Asunción Álvarez, MA, PHD is a Professor of Bioethics in the Master and Doctoral programs in the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). She has a Master in Clinical Psychology and PhD in Bioethics. Her research is in the area of Death in Medical Practice and End-of-life decisions. She is the author of Euthanasia: Practice and Ethics (2005); co-author of A Good-bye in Harmony (2015); and co-author of End-of Life Medical Decisions in Patients with Alzheimer Disease (2017) [currently available only in Spanish]. She is president of the Colegio de Bioética, (Academy of Bioethics), A.C. and president of the World Federation of Right to Die Societies.
