Freedom and Independence feat. Poems of Rita Dove & Frank O’Hara – Poetry Corner

Welcome to the first of the new Completed Life Poetry Corner (Formerly known as: Poetry Lunch Hour). In this video, Delano Copprue, PhD, leads a reading and discussion of the work of Rita Dove and Frank O’Hara. Delano selected these poets because of what their work says about freedom and independence. These are two key themes that guide the work of the Completed Life Initiative. What does freedom look/feel like? What can art teach us about finding our own independence even in the face of opposition? How does storytelling get us closer to a sense of freedom? Delano weaves these questions through the work of Dove and O’Hara, along with photographs of the famous singer Billie Holiday from the photographer Herman Leonard.
