In this month’s edition of the Poetry Corner series, Delano Copprue reads from the transcendent works of Walt Whitman. Together with his contemporary Emily Dickinson (who was featured last month), he is credited as one of the founders of a uniquely American poetic voice. Delano’s selections from “Leaves of Grass” introduce us to how Whitman viewed his own poetry, and how this provides a window into how we can view ourselves. By preserving the self, as Whitman did with his poetry, we can become, in a way, death-less.
