Ennis McGean

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Ennis has a background in bodily autonomy advocacy. His skills in organizational logistics, graphic design, and social media strategy have aided him in the creation and distribution of educational resources about the right to self-determination in medical spaces. As a former admin at a community resource center, Ennis was influenced by intersectional feminist teachings of what it means to have control over our own bodies and how socio-political forces impact that control. Ennis has extensive experience developing resource guides for reproductive healthcare, gender-affirming care, and HIV-preventative care. He believes that the first step toward successful self-determination in medical spaces is the widespread dissemination of accurate, unbiased information about these topics.

Ennis’s passion for community education and his knowledge of the current political landscape regarding bodily autonomy help guide his work. His grandmother passed away in 2006 from lung cancer, and the lack of medical aid-in-dying in the state of Georgia prevented her from being able to access the end-of-life care she desired. Ennis acknowledges that the right to bodily autonomy is a universal one, and he is glad to be working with CLI to help advocate for the right to choose how we carry out our lives.

Ennis was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and he attended Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts where he earned a BA in art history and archaeology. As a homebody, he is an avid reader and baker, but when he feels too cooped-up, he also enjoys boxing and going on walks.
